Meoli PictureThe Meoli Family McDonald’s® Restaurants and local Owner/Operator Mike Meoli is supporting the new Lewes Public Library – set to open soon – with a corporate donation of $50,000.

“Mike Meoli has been a generous supporter of regional causes for many years. His endorsement and financial support for our project is quite significant for the library campaign, and deeply appreciated,” said Dennis N. Forney, chair of the Lewes Public Library capital campaign.

Construction of the new 28,500 square-foot library is almost complete, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony scheduled for June 25. The larger facility has been created to accommodate population growth in the Lewes region, which is expected to more than double over the next 15 years.

“When I was first asked to consider a gift to the Lewes Library, I asked myself, ‘Given today’s technology, will there really be a need for libraries in the near future?’, said Meoli, who owns and operates 14 McDonald’s restaurants in Delaware and Maryland.  “Once I had the opportunity to see the actual facility, I was blown away by the level of excellence and foresight that went into the project. This new library is so much more than a place to find a book or learn about a certain topic. It’s an education and technology resource center that will help advance our community for years to come. The Meoli Family of McDonald’s Restaurants is proud to be a contributor to this important institution.”

Meoli said the donation also reflects McDonald’s continuous commitment to provide learning resources and education for its employees, and its commitment to leading the industry in promoting comprehensive workforce education to help employees succeed, no matter where they might be on their educational journeys.

The new Library will assist local businesses in a variety of ways: through free training programs for various computer applications; meeting space for employee gatherings; access to professional databases and employment applications; assistance for teens in college preparation and enrollment, search for internships and summer employment, and as host for a wide variety of educational seminars and presentations.
